Shining Spirit

16.3hh Thoroughbred,  Dark Brown, 9” Bone, ‘1989’

This picture portrays what an impressive looking horse Shining Spirit is, with superb conformation, he has the rare combination of a magnificent front and backside to match.
What it cannot show you is what a wonderful kind personality he has.
This he imparts to his young stock, as can be seen in the photos of his progeny.
Athletic, short coupled with magnificent flat bone, he combines size and quality with free straight movement.

Of Special significance in his breeding, he carries through a line to “Spiritus”, a remarkable stallion who begot numerous jumpers and race horses of national acclaim, amongst them “Master Spiritus”, who himself sired numerous world class three day event horses, including Ginny Elliot’s “Master Craftsman”, Badminton winner and a team member in the 1992 Olympics at Atlanta. From a family of consistent and durable winners with speed and stamina in National Hunt bloodlines, he is an important prospect for race mares, though he has covered mares of all shapes and sizes from ponies to shires.

As a ridden stallion, Shining Spirit was well hunted, proving a perfect gentleman. He competed in dressage, show jumping and at affiliated level horse trials. Shining Spirit jumping

Easy to ride with a bold outlook, always calm and uncomplicated, together with an enormous athletic jump, his potential seemed unlimited. However, due to accidental injury, his competitive career was unfortunately cut short, but this does not in any way impair his abilities as a working stallion.

Covering is undertaken in hand with experienced handlers, and he is always gentle with his mares. The mares foal down easily, and to date he has never thrown a chestnut offspring, despite many ginger wives! Fertility rates are high.
