ODGREEN DIVISION serves and protects

Sector 001.  A territory encompassing all space within 100 light years of Earth, ODGREEN DIVISION is the last line of defense for Earth and Vulcan and the worlds close to them...the last line of defense from enemies of the  Federation.   The view above can be best seen from the Special Projects Observatory at the South Pole on Earth.   Just above and to the right of center image are four stars that mark the boundaries of the famous Southern Cross.   Regretfully, the Observatory (SPO) is an in-use facility for Green Fleet employees only and not open to tours.   Plans for an annual calendar of images have been discussed for 2419 calendar year.   An announcement is expected in September 2418.

A tragic loss shook ODGREEN DIVISION in 2412.   On April 7, 2412, three million kilometers from Earth, the USS THUNDERCHILD encountered an anomalous energy burst which enveloped the ship.   The discharge measured independently from Armstrong Lunar Base on the Moon, McKinley Station in orbit of Earth, and from ground based sensors on Earth, suggests the ship was destroyed by a power surge strong enough to have decimated the Moon.

The entire ship and crew were lost, with shreds of ablative armor the only remains found.   The anomaly had never been detected before and has not reappeared.    The area is 3 million kilometers from the Earth' s solar orbit and not a threat to the planet or Earth's satellites.
