Welcome to the Garnock Valley Model Aircraft Club Website.

Here you will find information, not just on joining our club, but useful stuff for all modellers.

If you are a beginner, check out the Articles to Read/Download section and read the  "Who can Fly?" article by Steven and the "Introduction" article by Alasdair.

If you are well into model aircraft already look for the Aerobatics and Construct Floats articles and look for the "Scale Model Spreadsheet" in Alasdair's Aerodynamics

Check out our Gallery for photos of club activities, and also the video section.

There is a Members' Only section (entry by password) with club rules, minutes of meetings, club specific safety information, and contact information for most members

Our Club's Annual Splash-in was on

Saturday & Sunday, 2nd & 3rd May '09

We had pretty good weather, dry and quite sunny all day Saturday but with a fresh wind from the South. On Sunday the wind shifted WNW and increased a little making flying slightly more awkward, and bringing the occasional shower of rain between the sunny periods.

Nevertheless we had a good turnout of pilots and models and plenty of flying took place both days. There was a big contingent from Warrix club in Ayrshire, nice to see some new faces by the waterside.  And as usual some from the Cumbernauld club, though not as many as usual. We also had a couple from CVF plus George Thayre from Fife and Frank Garner from Preston, the only one to venture across the border. Quite a few of our own members turned up, some just to watch but Alasdair, Jim Campbell, Davy Kennedy and Bob Irvine flew.

The Annual SAA Airshow took place on Saturday & Sunday 16th & 17th May 2009 at Castle Kennedy near Stranraer.

Non-stop model flying from 10 am until 5 pm both days. Lots of  special models were there,  from all over Scotland plus invited guests from the LMA in England.

The GVMAC  Annual General Meeting

took place on Sunday 23rd November 2008

We adopted a new set of Club Constitution/Rules, in keeping with the SAA's policy on Child Protection, elected a new committee with a few new faces and some familiar ones, and kept the fees the same. After much discussion we also came to a decision as to which part of the field we will use as a runway.  See Club News for more.
