[February 2004] - [2003]

Feb 25, 2004:Every time your transport/cargo/hercule takes damage then so do ALL the units inside it. If it gets attacked by the enemy and doesn't get damaged then neither will your units that are inside it. If one of your cargoes containing a soldier and both have 8/8 subunits gets attacked and loses 6 of its 8 subunits, then your war report should look something like this:
  • Cargo Attacked! 6 unit(s) killed.
  • \ Cargo contained Soldier...

The soldier will also lose its subunits and will come down to just 2/8 remaining subunits (in this example, since 6/8 of a previously 8/8 cargo were destroyed). If the soldier had 5/8 subunits to begin with or even 2/8 subunits remaining, it will still have 2/8 subunits remaining after the attack in the example above. In short, when a cargo/transport/hercule has taken a hit (i.e when there's no patriot with a higher defense factor than it, defending it), any units inside it will suffer the same damage.

A clear example:

Your cargo contained THREE soldiers. The cargo itself had 8/8 subunits while soldier A was also 8/8, soldier B was at 3/8 and C was 1/8. The cargo took a hit and 6/8 of its sub-units were destroyed. You will get the following war report:
  • Cargo Attacked! 6 unit(s) killed.
  • \ Cargo contained Soldier...
  • \ Cargo contained Soldier...

Notice, only 2 of those soldiers will record a hit. The resulting outcome is going to be:
  • Cargo: 2/8 subunits left
  • Soldier A: 2/8 subunits left
  • Soldier B: 2/8 subunits left
  • Soldier C : 1/8 subunits left (since its health was lower than the cargo's; notice that it didn't receive any further hits however for the same reason)
Feb 25, 2004:Naval units cannot attack while over a waterbridge (=water tile that has a road built on it). In order for them to attack, they have to destroy the waterbridge first by attacking it (it takes one move to destroy a road square and they cannot attack the square they are on top of/occupy) and then moving onto that square to attack the unit you wish for them to attack from that location.
Feb 25, 2004:Long range units cannot attack a unit that is adjacent to them (including the patriot). In addition, they cannot counterattack against units that have attacked them (whether those units are melee or ranged units). For example, a hawkeye when attacked by a predator will not counterattack. On the other hand, melee units (such as the Grizzli), will only counterattack when they are attacked by another melee unit (whether ground, naval or air). However, there is one exception and that is the patriot. When attacked by enemy units it will counterattack no matter what.
