Profile of Lucas Savino

ACCF President

Lucas Savino was born in Córdoba , Argentina and now lives with his wife Karen in London, Ontario, Canada . In 1996, he was a Rotary Exchange Student living with Jane and her family in Eagle Pass, Texas . This was Lucas' first experience with other cultures. A year later, Lucas went back to Argentina where he received a B.A. in International Relations. It was during this time that Lucas was introduced to the doctors group by his father who is a doctor and had recently become an active participant in providing free healthcare for the children. After coming to Canada in 2002, Lucas and Jane started to think about ways in which Canadians could be involved in helping people with needs in Argentina . The idea gave way to the Argentinean-Canadian Children's Foundation founded in the year 2003.

After visiting a few villages in the province of Córdoba , Argentina , Lucas and Jane decided to continue their efforts towards establishing more permanent links between Canadians and people in Argentina with similar goals. Jill Kanwischer, Karen Savino and Mike Stafferton would show interest in becoming part of the Board of Directors of the ACCF. Until today, the five directors of the ACCF, families and volunteers in Canada as well as health professionals and local volunteers in Argentina help to carry forward the objectives of the ACCF. Lucas is currently a PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of Western Ontario.
